Bright Eyes Dog Rescue
Bright Eyes Dog Rescue (BEDR) officially became a reality January 2010. Started by Founders, Jamie Parker and Karen Filleul, it began as a dream of Jamie’s to offer more for dogs in need of a loving, caring home. Whether abandoned, abused, feral, injured or surrendered, Jamie saw the need for these dogs to have more than a concrete cell.
In just over the first six years of operation, BEDR has found homes for over 900 dogs and puppies; making sure that they are vetted, vaccinated, and if/when old enough spayed or neutered. Some in need of surgeries, some in need of training, others just needing patience to get used to people, the many volunteers and fosters over the years have each contributed to helping, caring, loving and making sure our dogs each have the opportunity to find a home of their own.
At the end of February 2016, Jamie and Karen resigned as Directors of BEDR. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours. As we continue, we hope that the current Directors can make them both proud as we move forward and uphold the high standards that BEDR is about. Here’s to another six or more years!
What we do…
We are a registered non-profit charity, located in Regina, SK, Canada dedicated to helping dogs that have fallen on hard times (homeless, abandoned, injured, neglected, and in some cases, surrendered). With the help of dedicated volunteer foster families, our dogs live as part of the family while they are in foster care right up until they move in with their new family. We strive to help with the over-population of pets by making sure each and every puppy*, adolescent and adult dog is spayed/neutered. (*Note: sterilization of puppies is the owner’s responsibility and proof of sterilization must be shown at 6 months of age.)
Our adoption application process , which includes a home visit, help us to ensure we find wonderful, permanent loving and caring families for each one of our dogs. We feel that honesty is the best policy when it comes to finding homes for our dogs; we want to avoid any unfortunate surprises after you bring your new friend home. After all, we are looking for a BEDR life for our dogs!
